Hazel Baby Bonnet

Hello lovelies,

Hazel Bonnet is another beginner friendly pattern. Bonnet I made is for 0 -3 months baby. You can check measurements for other sizes (down). You can make this bonnet from new born to adult size. This pattern does not include ears and appliques. You can attach any appliques as you wish. Feel free to tag me in Instagram if you made this bonnet.

Skill Level: Beginner


Materials used:

• Yarn: Ganga Merino Wool (Shade bottle green)

Obviously any kind of yarn can be used!!!

• Hook size: 4.50mm

Choose hook size according to your yarn

• Yarn needle

• Stitch marker


Recommended crochet supplies:

Notes:

• Written instruction will only cover 0-3-month baby

• For other sizes: size chart is provided

• This pattern does not include ears and appliques. You can attach any appliques as you wish.


Abbreviation:

• sl - slip

• ch - chain

• sc – single crochet

• hdc – half double crochet

• dc – double crochet

• st(s) - stitch(es)

• rep - repeat

• *_* - Repeat stitches inside this star

• sk - skip

• inc - increase

Pattern:

ch4, sl st in 1st st (forms ring)


round 1: ch3 (always counts as 1dc), 11dc(s), sl st in 3rd ch at last

round 2: ch3, 1dc in same st (where ch3 is coming out), *2dc(s) in each st* - rep, sl st in 3rd ch at last

round 3: ch3, *2dc in next st (known as inc), 1dc* - rep, sl st in 3rd ch at last

round 4: ch3, 1dc in same st (where ch3 is coming out), *1dc, 1dc, 2dc* - rep, sl st in 3rd ch at last


Note: Since I got my desired crown measurement at this stage, I stopped increasing. If you are making for other size, you have to increase in each row. For example: next row should be [1dc, 1dc, 1dc, inc], next row [1dc, 1dc, 1dc, 1dc, inc], etc... When you get your desired crown measurement, continue round 5.


round 1: ch3, 1dc in each st (except: last 2 st(s) for babies, last 3 st(s) for children, 5st(s) for adult)

round 2: ch1, turn, 1hdc in 1st st, 1hdc on each st till end

round 3: rep round 2

round 4: ch1, turn, 1hdc in 1st st, *1sl st, 1hdc* - rep till end

round 5: ch1, turn, sl st in 1st st, *1hdc, 1 sl st* - rep till end


Note: 1 sl st on top of hdc, 1hdc on top of sl st


round 6: rep round 5 as much as your hat height (ref table)


Last Round: ch1, turn, work 1 hdc on each st till end, For Strap: ch80(you can make as much as you want), work 1sc on each ch till the starting point of the strap, continue 1sc on top of hdc(c) till other end, For Strap: ch80(you can make as much as you want), work 1sc on each ch till the starting point of the strap.


Optional:

• you can work 1sc on each st in the neck space

• You can also attach pop-pom to strap, or use any applique or ears on top the head. (ref img below)
