Reversible Storage Basket

Hey! Is your yarn ball is rolling to some other place while you are working? I found a solution for that. Try this reversible storage basket. Put your yarn ball in this and keep crocheting. Not only for yarn, you can store other things. You can use this as planter also. This is a simple repeat pattern & beginner friendly. Make it in any size as you wish. I hope you like this pattern. Materials used:

• Yarn: bulky yarn bought from Raja thread store, Chennai (Brand name not mentioned)

Use bulky or chunky yarn to get stiffness

• Hook size: 7.00mm

• Yarn needle

• Stitch marker

Recommended Crochet Supplies:

Abbreviation:

• sl - slip

• st(s) – stitch(es)

• rep – repeat

• ch – chain

• hhdc – herringbone half double crochet

• *_* - Repeat stitches inside this star

• sk - skip

Herringbone Half Double Crochet (hhdc):

• Yarn over, insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook)

• Pull first loop straight through the second (similar to a slip stitch)

• Yarn over, pull through two remaining loops on hook

• That’s it! You created a herringbone half double crochet

ch 4, sl st in 1st ch (forms ring)

Row 1: 10 sc(s) in ring, last - sl st in 1st sc and join (Total – 10st(s))

Row 2: ch 1, * 1sc, 2sc * - rep, last - sl st and join (Total – 15st(s))

Row 3: ch 1, * 2sc, 1sc, 1sc * - rep, last - sl st and join (Total – 20st(s))

Row 4: ch 1, * 1sc, 1sc, 1sc, 2sc * - rep, last - sl st and join (Total – 25st(s)) Row 5: ch 1, * 2sc, 1sc, 1sc, 1sc, 1sc * - rep, last - sl st and join (Total – 30st(s))

Row 16: ch1, sc(s) in back loop on each st, last - sl st and join (Total – 80st(s))

Row 17: ch2, hhdc on each st, last - sl st and join (Total – 80st(s))

Repeat this row till you get desired height.

Handle:

Last row : 30 sc, sk 10 st(s), 30 sc, sk 10 st(s), last - sl st and join (Total – 80st(s))

• Continue row 17 until desired height. I repeated this row for 30 times. Btw, I changed colors in between.

• You can stop this basket at this stage or make another one basket in small size than 1 st basket. insert smaller basket into larger one and make it as reversible. (make sure the smaller basket is reversed before inserting it into bigger one)

• (for eg., larger basket has 80 st(s) at last, smaller version should have 75 st(s) and height should also be reduced by 1 )

• Join both the baskets using sc(s) – approx. Join both handles and make 20 sc(s)

• At last weave in loose ends

Voila!!! Your storage basket is ready !!!
